With the De La Salle Green Archers clinching a finals berth by defeating the Far Eastern University Tamaraws in the Final-Four round, fans of the UAAP are left with this question: will we see the rivalry of the Teng brothers in the UAAP finals?
The boys from Taft have come a long way, from being the underdogs of the league, up to the deepest and one of the most feared teams in Philippine collegiate basketball.
Thanks to the late-round heroics of different players, particularly, De La Salle star, Jeron Teng, they rose to the ranks of the elite teams in the UAAP and went on to accomplish the second round with a 7-0 sweep.
A lot of people love seeing La Salle and University of Sto. Tomas face each other on the hard court. These two teams have established a rivalry throughout the years, mostly in the early 2000s. Unlike De La Salle’s fiery feuds with Ateneo de Manila and Far Eastern University, their competition with the Growling Tigers is considered friendly.
With the help provided by the supporters of the famous “bromance” of the Teng brothers, people want an Archers-Tigers match up in the finals now more than ever.
Never has the UAAP seen a match-up like this before, two players who are arguably skilled and gifted, both playing for teams with a recognized rivalry, they love and respect each other and most especially, both are of the same family.
The series between La Salle and USTe in the elimination round was tied – those two games were definitely heart-stopping.
There’s no better way to end the unfinished business between the two clubs than to have it in the finals with a one of a kind rivalry between two of the league’s most talented players.
